Resetting your password

1. Go to saskpolytech.ca/password.
2. Pick a new password and click next.
3. Enter your Sask Polytech email address in this format:  username@saskpolytech.ca (e.g., doe1234@saskpolytech.ca, not Joe.Doe@saskpolytech.ca). 
4. Enter the characters to pass the CAPTCHA check then click Next.
   
5. Select I forgot my password and click Next.
6. Choose an option to reset your password. Depending on what you enrolled with, you might see one or more of the following choices:
   • Email my alternate email: Click Email to send code to your alternate email.
   • Text my mobile phone: Click text to send code to your mobile phone.
   • Call my mobile or office phone: Calls your phone (press the # button to verify the call).
   • Approve a notification on my authenticator app: Allows you to verify through the app.
   • Answer my security questions: Provide answers to three security questions. 

7. Follow the steps to verify your account.
    

How the codes work

1. A code will be sent to your recovery email address (or to whichever option you chose). Check your email to find the code. In some instances, the code may take five minutes to arrive, and it may be in your junk or spam folder.
   
2. Enter this code in the text field onscreen, and then click Next. 
   
3. Enter your new password twice.
4. Click Finish to complete the change.

You can choose to reset your own password manually from the sign-in screen on your computer. 

1. Select "reset password" on your sign-in screen.
    
2. Enter your email and verify the code you see or hear. 
    
3. Select "I forgot my password" option and click "next".
    
4. Choose your contact method for verification and click "next" when it becomes available. If you chose to use a phone number, you need to retype the number. 
   
    
5. Choose the second contact method for verification and click "next' when it becomes available. 
    
6. Enter the code you received through your primary contact method and click "next".
    
7. Enter and confirm your new password and click "next". Be sure to follow the password guidelines to move to the next step. 
   
    
8. Click "finish" to complete the process. 
   
    
9. Watch for an email from Microsoft that your password has been reset.

You are required to use multi-factor authentication (MFA) each time you sign in on a device and application. It may feel excessive, but it is a necessary security measure. You will be prompted periodically in accordance with our updated policies. We recommend checking the "Don't ask me for 1 day" checkbox to help lessen the number of sign-in prompts.

Use the Microsoft Authenticator app as your default sign-in method. This is the best and most highly recommended sign-in method. It is more secure and helps protect against phishing. You do not need Wi‑Fi, mobile data, or cell service to receive codes after the initial setup. 

If you still can't sign in or don't know your username, submit a sign-in troubleshooting ticket. You do not need to be signed in to Tech Services to submit this ticket.
