Printing at Sask Polytech

Body

Saskatchewan Polytechnic is working towards a sustainable, environmental, and economical approach for printing, copying, scanning and faxing through print optimization best practices. This includes centralized print functionality with multi-function printers (printing, scanning, copying and faxing all in one), improved end-user experience and enhanced security for confidential documents. Print optimization doesn’t just result in cost savings (multi-function printers replacing desktop printers) but also provides significant environmental benefits - reducing energy consumption, carbon emissions and waste. For more information on how you can be environmentally print-friendly, read these print-friendly tips.

Print-friendly tips

  • Use the print preview function to check that there are no unnecessary pages at the end of your document.
  • When possible, reduce your font size and page margins before you print to reduce the number of pages.
  • Use the black-and-white setting for jobs that do not require color. Color printing costs more per side.
  • If you are printing PowerPoint slides or notes, change the setting to print multiple slides per page.
  • If you submit a print job you don’t need, don’t print it! Delete it from your print queue, or don’t release that job with the other jobs in your queue.
