Follow the steps below to set up a secure print queue on your device.
Windows 10 devices
- Open the Start Menu
- Type "printers" and click on Printers & scanners
- Select Add a printer or Scanner
- It will scan for a few seconds, and then click on “the printer that I want isn’t listed.
- Select the option "Select a shared printer by name" and type the following information in this format \\servername\printername for each printer.
Black and White printer: \\spprint-svr-p01\secure_bw or \\spprint-svr-p02\secure_bw
Colour printer: \\spprint-svr-p01\secure_colour or \\spprint-svr-p02\secure_colour
- Complete the installation wizard by clicking next and finish
Windows 11 devices
- Open the Start Menu
- Type "printers" and click on Printers & scanners
- Select Add device
- It will scan for a few seconds, and then click on "Add manually"
- Select the option "Select a shared printer by name" and type the following information in this format \\servername\printername for each printer.
Black and White printer: \\spprint-svr-p01\secure_bw or \\spprint-svr-p02\secure_bw
Colour printer: \\spprint-svr-p01\secure_colour or \\spprint-svr-p02\secure_colour
- Complete the installation wizard by clicking next and finish
Once set up is complete
- You will see the printers you setup listed in Printers & scanners.
- To print, open the document to be printed. Go to File, Print and select the printer.

⚠️ Print queues cannot be added to Sask Polytech computers if the device is connected to the SASKPOLYTECHpublic Wi-Fi
ℹ️ If you encounter issues, employees and students can send documents to print if they are logged into myWorkspace. PDFs, JPGS, PNGS and Microsoft Office documents can also be sent to secure printers by emailing the file attachment to myprint@saskpolytech.ca.
