Trouble accessing the Sask Polytech domain on eduroam Wi-Fi

Users may have static DNS set which prevents them from accessing the Sask Polytech domain. Follow the steps below to ensure that the settings for IPv4 are set to automatically obtain DNS,

  1. Click the windows icon found in the lower left corner of your main display.
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. Alternatively, type Control Panel in search area.
  4. Select Network and Sharing Center.

  5. If you are already connected to Eduroam with your SaskPolytech credentials, you will be able to click on the option “Eduroam” as shown here:

  6. Select Properties.

  7. Click once on the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) option, so it is highlighted in blue as shown here, then select Properties.

  8. Check to see if Use the following IP address is selected and if there are addresses shown in the sections IP addresses and Subnet mask…

  9. If that option is selected, we suggest you change to Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically

  11. You will notice addresses will be removed from sections IP addresses and Subnet mask.

  12. Next click OK.
  13. You have now changed your settings for TCP/IPv4.
  14. Please close your Internet browser, then reopen your browser and try accessing the SaskPolytech domain.

 

Requirements Audience Cause
Eduroam Wi-Fi   Client is signed into Eduroam on a computer with their credentials but is unable to access the Sask Polytech domain.
